Coral Poker isn't a widely known brand in its own right, but it is part of one of the major poker networks so does have plenty of people to play against and tournaments to enter. We wouldn't go as far as to say it's a bad online poker room, but given the high standard of many others, it would come way down the list in our recommendations. That's not to say it won't be for some you, but it's worth hearing what we have to say before rushing to sign up!
Coral Poker does have a downloadable client for both Mac and Windows as well as a browser-based client which can be used if you are running some other operating system. While this scores points in our book the clients aren't as high quality as some others we have seen. However, they do all the main things and let you get on with a game of poker with the minimum of fuss. Signing up is a bit of a hassle as you must create a Coral account before you can even download anything, but once you have an account it's easy to make a deposit.
There are some good tournaments on offer at Coral Poker and some big prizes to be won. The most popular tournament seems to be the $200,000 guaranteed prize on a Sunday evening for the obvious reason! However, there is plenty of action throughout the week too and a monthly race where the players with the most reward points are guaranteed a $1500 prize. A full list of all the tournaments currently being run is available on the Coral Poker web site, but it isn't the easiest thing to read. This goes for the rest of the site too, including the sub-standard poker school section. While we're on the topic the site could probably do with a bit of a facelift too, especially when compared with some of the more glamorous poker rooms out there.
The reward program Coral Poker offers is pretty reasonable and can be profitable if you make best use of it. The rules, while based around the usual reward points, are slightly complicated, but are explained in detail on the site for anyone who can manage to understand them. As you move up the VIP levels you gain more and more bonuses, which include cash prizes as well as entry to some pretty high value freeroll tournaments.
