Editor's Verdict:

PKR picks up a well deserved third place in our top ten online poker web sites. It does all the essentials very well and offers lots and lots of regular high value prize tournaments so we are off to a good start already. PKR really tops it off though by offering a full 3D environment to play in while all of its competitors are still stuck in 2D. It would be easy to dismiss this as a silly gimmick, but it really adds to the whole experience and earns PKR its place in our top ten. There's plenty more too so read on to discover why we think PKR is one of the best online poker sites around.

PKR makes it very easy to sign up and try out the service without making any commitments. A membership is completely free and lets you play for free on the 'play money' tables so you have nothing to lose by trying it out. You will have to download the desktop client to start playing as this is the only way it's possible to provide a 3D virtual interface. This is a bit annoying if you just want a quick online game, but most other sites make you download a client too. The interface itself is great looking and, although the 3D graphics aren't quite what you might see on the latest Playstation games, they are still very good. Everything is also very easy to use.

You create a personal avatar to represent yourself in PKR's 3D online world. With this you can walk about the virtual casino and join a variety of different tables. The transition between walking around the world and starting a game is very smooth and once you are in a game it's more or less like any other poker client. The graphics are still excellent, but the 3D world doesn't detract from the game or make it any more fiddly to play. Experienced players will still be able to play multiple games at once and make use of plenty of keyboard shortcuts.

PKR provides a few different types of poker to have a go at. Whichever you prefer there are plenty of tables to join and there are always thousands of players online at any one time so you will never be stuck for a game. The stakes start from as low as $0.1/$0.2 for the small/big blinds so if you are just starting out it's easy to build up some experience without losing too much money. However the stakes do go much higher if you are feeling adventurous!

There are also plenty of tournaments to play in on PKR. There are two daily tournaments with guaranteed prizes of $10,000 and $12,500 and a monthly one with a jackpot of $100,000. As if this wasn't enough there are also plenty of other regular high value tournaments as well as constant sit-and-gos for a much lower buy in. The great thing about PKR's tournaments is that their real world presence is as big as that in the virtual world. There are regular qualifier tournaments online which, if you win, will allow you to enter some really high profile real world tournaments.

All in all PKR would be a great online poker service even if it didn't provide a stunning 3D client to play with. It offers tournaments and prizes on par with any other big player in the online poker world and has a very active gaming community. The 3D client is just the icing on an already very well made cake and is something that not many, if any, other online poker services can offer.
